Workshop Schedule

Join us every Tuesday from 8:00- 9:00pm for special workshops designed to get you to the next level and teach you the things you don’t usually learn in a regular class!

Workshops are held at Cafe Casablanca, 2524 Bridge St.
No partner or experience required unless otherwise stated.
Cost is $12 drop in or $55 for a 5 class punch card. (+$2 min charge at the cafe)

May 26- INTRO TO SON
Son is a style of music & dance that gained worldwide popularity in the 1930s. Come and learn all about it!

June 02- EASY DIPS & TRICKS FOR SALSA COMPETITION & PERFORMANCE
Getting ready to compete in the Amateur Salsa Competition on June 5 and looking for a couple new moves to spice up your routine? Not competing yet but want to start getting more comfortable with moves like this? Find a partner and come give it a try! this workshop is open to couples only.

June 09- WORKSHOP WEEKEND REVIEW
This workshop will review the material covered in the weekend workshops on June 6 & 7. It will only be open to those that attended on the weekend.

June 16- PORTLAND CONGRESS REVIEW
This workshop will review the material covered in workshops at the Portland Salsa Congress. Couldn’t make it to Portland? No worries! Come and learn something new.

June 23- PUERTO RICAN BOMBA & PLENA
Bomba is a Puerto Rican folkloric dance that first developed in the late 17th century as a way for slaves to continue to worship their African gods once their religion had been banned. Plena was referred to as the “singing newspaper” and related events of the day from town to town. Come and learn about some of the roots of Salsa!

June 30 & JULY 7- PUERTO RICAN DANCE, MUSIC & CULTURE (2 week series)
Come and learn about the history, dance, music and culture of Puerto Rico in this 2 week series.
